Interior architecture is a profession which intends to design a space according to its function. The design has to be realized in an aesthetic, comfortable way and must serve the best interests of the user who lives in it.
The interior architect's interest ranges from furniture design to space planning and he/she must have technical information about construction details, lighting, heating and ventilation. Therefore, the Interior Architecture curriculum includes technical lessons such as "Construction and Details," "Final Construction," "Interior Analysis Systems," and "Building Performance Services," in addition to lessons of art and culture. The curriculum is completed with "Computer-Aided Design Lessons" which teaches students how to use software such as AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max, Revit Architecture and Sketch Up.
The accreditation principles were also taken into account when the curriculum of the Interior Architecture Department was prepared. The curriculum is parallel to the programs of the leading institutions of Turkey and foreign countries.
Nowadays the working environment of interior architecture is expanding day by day. Graduates of this department can set up businesses which provide services ranging from decoration to furniture design, can participate in academic studies including master and doctorate programs, and can also join the membership of the Chamber of Interior Architects of Turkey. Graduates can also find employment opportunities at public and private institutions.
