The Doctor of Philosophy Program in Computer Engineering consists of formal coursework, passing a qualifying exam (CSE 900), presentation of a dissertation proposal and successful defense of a dissertation. The program requires a minimum of 21 credit hours of formal coursework for students entering the program with a Master of Science degree or a minimum of 42 credit hours of formal coursework for students entering the program with a Bachelor of Science degree. All candidates for the Ph.D. must take a minimum of 12 credit hours of formal coursework from graduate level computer engineering courses. The remaining formal coursework may be taken from other graduate programs with the approval of the graduate advisor.
