Dean’s Message

onur kaya

We are all experiencing an era of unprecedented transformation in science, technology, and society. This transformation differs significantly from previous industrial revolutions and societal changes.

Today, scientists and engineers are no longer confined to their respective technological fields, driven solely by academic curiosity or the desire to record technological advancements for future generations. Now, more than ever, we need engineers and scientists who can tackle existential problems affecting society, the environment, governments, and the world. They must work under increasingly challenging constraints, adopt interdisciplinary approaches, and shift their focus from asking "Why?" to "How?" when solving problems.

This transformation is happening at such a rapid pace, and the challenges we face are so critical, that we require versatile and highly skilled engineers who can comprehend today’s complex, multi-dimensional problems, generate rapid solutions, and anticipate future challenges. With the expanding influence of artificial intelligence, the Industry 5.0 revolution has already begun, prioritizing human-centered digital transformation. Engineers who contribute to Society 5.0, which places the well-being of people and the planet at its core, will be the ones shaping the future.

At Işık University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, we have been committed to instilling global competencies in our students for nearly 30 years. Our approach combines this vision with the Feyziye Schools Foundation’s philosophy of educating enlightened, principled, and well-rounded individuals in line with Atatürk’s principles and values.

Through our internationally recognized, accredited programs, interdisciplinary components, 21st-century skills-focused curriculum, and rapidly adaptable courses, we do not merely follow change—we lead it. Our graduates are sought after both in academia and the professional world, in Turkey and abroad, from the moment they graduate. I invite you to become part of the Işık University community and help us shape the future together.
