University Library meets the educational and research needs of the students, faculty and staff of Işık University. Its resources are also available, under specific conditions, to individuals not affiliated with Işık University.
The Library collects books, magazines, journals, and newspapers as well as non-print materials, such as CD-ROMS, video-cassettes, audio cassettes and slides. The Library also subscribes to a number of online databases.
Books in the library are shelved according to the Library of Congress classification system. The Library of Congress system classifies books by subject. Each subject has a corresponding letter or letters. Letters determine the general location of the book; numbers following the letter(s) more specifically identify that particular book. Periodicals (magazines, journals) are shelved alphabetically by title.
You must show a valid student, faculty, or staff ID card in order to borrow materials. Reference materials, periodicals and government documents do not circulate. Other materials can be borrowed and renewed on or before the due date. Loan periods vary depending on the status of the borrower.

Reserve materials are located next to the Circulation Desk, and consist of items set aside by course instructors for use by their classes.
Items on reserve are loaned for three hours. If not requested by another reader, they may be borrowed for an additional three hours. They can also be borrowed after 16:00 until 09:30 the next day.
When an hourly use item becomes overdue, the fine is applied for each hour. Per hour, the overdue fine is 1 TL.
If not returned within three days, the item is considered lost. The fine for a general collection and AV collection item is 1 TL per day if it is late. The circulation/reserve area closes 15 minutes before the end of regular library hours.
The library can obtain books and copies of articles from journals that are not available in its print collection or electronic databases, within certain copyright guidelines, from cooperating libraries. When necessary, the library may also request books and copies of articles from the British Library Document Supply Centre.
