Application Requirements for International Lateral Transfer
- The higher education institution and the program in which the student is enrolled abroad must be recognized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) at the time of application and authorized to grant an associate or bachelor's degree.
- The applicant must hold active student status at the time of application.
- The applicant must have taken the ÖSYS (Student Selection and Placement Exam) in the year they started studying abroad and must have obtained a score equal to or higher than the minimum base score set for the equivalent program in Turkey.
◦ (Submitting SAT, ACT, Abitur, Baccalaureate, or other exam results without an ÖSYS score is not sufficient for application.) - Students in their 3rd or 5th semester may apply.
- The student must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.29/4.00 based on the grades earned in their program up to the semester of application.
- The student must have successfully completed all courses taken before the application date.
Base Score and Success Ranking Requirement
For Applicants from Universities Ranked in the Top 400 Worldwide
- Students enrolled in universities ranked within the top 400 in at least one of the international university rankings accepted by YÖK must meet the following criteria:
◦ They must have taken the YKS (Higher Education Institutions Exam) in the year they started studying abroad and must have obtained a score equal to or higher than the minimum base score set for the equivalent program in Turkey.
◦ They must meet the success ranking criteria set by YÖK for the respective program.
◦ SAT, ACT, Abitur, Baccalaureate, or other exam results alone are not sufficient without a YKS score.
For Applicants from Universities Outside the Top 400 Worldwide
- Students enrolled in universities that fall outside the top 400 in the international university rankings accepted by YÖK must meet the following criteria:
◦ Applicants who completed high school in Turkey must have taken the YKS exam in the year they started studying abroad, obtained a score equal to or higher than the minimum base score set for the equivalent program in Turkey, and met the success ranking requirement set by YÖK. - (Submitting SAT, ACT, Abitur, Baccalaureate, or other exam results without a YKS score is not sufficient.)
◦ Applicants who completed at least the last two years of high school abroad must have successfully completed at least four semesters (excluding preparatory classes) in their diploma program and must have passed all courses with at least the minimum passing grade.
◦ These students cannot apply for 2nd-year transfer quotas.

Regulatory Update:
According to the Regulation on Transfers, Double Majors, Minors, and Credit Transfers Between Institutions in Higher Education Institutions, published in the Official Gazette on July 16, 2023 (Issue No. 32250), applicants for international lateral transfer must be enrolled in a university ranked within the top 400 in at least three of the rankings recognized by YÖK.
Success Ranking Requirements for Specific Programs
Architecture (English or Turkish) Bachelor’s Programs
- For students who were admitted to university through ÖSYS in 2016 or 2017:
◦ Applicants must have a minimum success ranking of 200,000 in the MF-4 (Mathematics & Science) score type. - For students who were admitted to university through YKS in 2018 or later:
◦ Applicants must have a minimum success ranking of 250,000 in the SAY (Quantitative) score type.
Engineering Bachelor’s Programs
- For students who were admitted to university through ÖSYS in 2016 or 2017:
◦ Applicants must have a minimum success ranking of 240,000 in the MF-4 (Mathematics & Science) score type. - For students who were admitted to university through YKS in 2018 or later:
◦ Applicants must have a minimum success ranking of 300,000 in the SAY (Quantitative) score type.

Required Documents for Application
All documents must be notarized and translated into Turkish.
- Recently issued Student Certificate (Dated within 15 days before application submission)
- Official Transcript (Showing all completed courses and grades)
- Certificate of Preparatory Class Completion (For students who have completed an English preparatory program)
- ÖSYM Exam Results Certificate
- ÖSYM Placement Certificate (For students studying in Northern Cyprus (KKTC))
- Recognition Certificate from YÖK (For students applying from foreign universities, proving the university is recognized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK))
- Document showing the equivalent GPA on a 100-point scale (For students applying from foreign universities)
- Certified Course Descriptions
- Letter stating that the applicant has not received any disciplinary action
- Copy of National Identity Card (Nüfus Cüzdanı)
- Passport (Including entry-exit records, except for students from KKTC)
