What is a Double Major?
A double major is a program that enables students who demonstrate superior achievement in their associate or undergraduate program to successfully complete the courses of a second program with similar content to their major program and receive a double diploma.
What are the General Requirements for a Double Major?
Students with a general grade point average of at least 2.72 in their major program and ranking in the top 20% of their major program can apply for a second major program. To apply for a double major program, the student must successfully complete all courses in their major studies until the semester they apply. For the double major program that admits students through a talent exam, students must also pass the relevant exam to be admitted.
When Can Students Apply for a Double Major Program?
Students can apply for the second major program beginning of the third semester at the earliest and beginning of the fifth semester for undergraduate programs at the latest and beginning of the second semester at the earliest and beginning of the third semester for associate programs at the latest.
Can Students Be Enrolled in More Than One Program at the Same Time for a Double Major?
Students cannot be enrolled in more than one second major program at the same time. However, they can be enrolled in a second major program and a minor program at the same time.
Is There a Grade Criterion to Pursue a Double Major Program?
For the student to graduate from the double major program, their general grade point average must be at least 2.72 out of 4. Throughout the entire double major program, the student's general grade point average may drop to 2.5 only once. If the general grade point average falls below 2.5 for a second time, the student's registration in the second major program is cancelled. If the student does not take courses for two consecutive semesters in the double major program, their registration in the second major diploma program is cancelled.
Can a Student Who is Doing a Double Major Transfer Credits to Their Second Major?
The student in the second major program can transfer credits to another second major program if they fulfill the intra-institutional transfer conditions in their major diploma program.
Does Success or Failure in the Second Major Affect the Main Major Program?
Grades received in the second major do not affect the major program for students who are doing a double major.
If a Student Doing a Double Major Fails Their Major Courses, Will Their Registration in the Second Major Program Be Cancelled?
Yes. The student must first successfully complete the major courses. A student who pursues a second major program will be given a graduation certificate only if they graduate from their first major program.
Can Students Apply for a Double Major in Programs Requiring Special Talent?
Students who want to apply for programs that require a special talent must pass the special talent exam in addition to meeting the general requirements.
Will the Different Courses That a Student Fails in the Second Major be Indicated on Their Documents?
The courses that the student in the double major second diploma program has taken and that are deemed equivalent to the courses in their major program will be indicated on the grade table. The courses that students who are removed from the double major program have taken in the second major program can be counted as compulsory or elective courses in their first major program with the approval of the relevant academic unit's board of directors.
Will the Different Courses in the Second Major of a Failed Student be Indicated on Their Documents?
The courses taken by a student enrolled in the double major second diploma program in the main program and their equivalents are indicated in the grade table. A minor program is a program that allows students who have demonstrated outstanding success in their undergraduate program to earn a certificate by taking a limited number of courses in a second program with content similar to their main program.
What are the General Conditions for Minor Programs?
Students who have successfully completed all credit courses in their undergraduate program until the semester they applied for the minor program can apply for a minor. The overall grade point average in the main program must be at least 2.5 at the time of application.
When Can You Apply for a Minor Program?
Students can apply for a minor program at the beginning of the earliest third semester and the latest sixth semester of their main program.
Are There Any Grade Criteria for Pursuing a Minor Program?
To enroll in a minor program, the student must have a minimum GPA of 2.29 in the main program. If the student fails to meet this requirement, their registration in the minor program is cancelled. Courses in which the student is successful but are not counted in the main program are included in the transcript and diploma supplement without being included in the general grade average.
