About the Architecture Department
Architecture is an ancient profession with roots dating back ten thousand years, yet it also stands as a key symbol of the era of global communication. It is a multidisciplinary field that merges art, technology, and science, influencing not only its users but also society as a whole on a global scale.
The Faculty of Architecture and Design (MTF) at FMV Işık University was established by the University Senate on December 27, 2011 (Decision No. 138). Within the faculty, the Architecture Program is designed as a four-year (eight-semester) undergraduate program, totaling 140 credits. The Architecture Department offers both Turkish and English programs, welcoming its first students in the 2012-2013 academic year and graduating its first cohort in 2016-2017.
The department’s curriculum aligns with international architecture programs and is structured according to the Bologna Process Criteria. Given the interdisciplinary nature of architecture, faculty members from the Faculty of Fine Arts, the Department of Interior Architecture, the Department of Civil Engineering, and the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences contribute significantly to the program. This collaborative approach ensures a high-quality and distinctive architectural education.
Students enrolled in the Architecture Undergraduate Program benefit from state-of-the-art facilities and have the opportunity to participate in minor programs, double major programs, and Erasmus exchange programs.
