Dr. Lecturer Bora Akşar shared his observations on the structures in the disaster area in his presentations titled "The February 6 Earthquakes, Structural Damages, and Regional Impressions" and "Earthquake Damage Assessment, Risky Building Identification, Building Performance Evaluation, and Strengthening." He also provided insights into how risky buildings should be identified and strengthened to prevent such massive destruction and losses in the future.
Dr. Lecturer Önder Umut, in his presentation titled "Earthquake-Resistant Building Design: Principles, Standards, and Regulations," emphasized that earthquakes become disasters due to improperly constructed buildings. He provided detailed information on the development of earthquake-resistant building design principles in Turkey within a historical context, focusing on legal and professional regulations.
