Disabled Student Unit

Dear Student,

The Council of Higher Education has issued the "Higher Education Institutions Advisory and Coordination Regulation for Disabled Individuals," which was published in the Official Gazette No. 26204 on June 20, 2006, and came into effect. In accordance with Article 8 of this regulation, Işık University established the Disabled Student Unit as of November 5, 2009.

This unit, established following the Council of Higher Education’s directive No. 4471 dated September 14, 2009, consists of Prof. Dr. Volkan Günay, Prof. Dr. Adnan Uzun, Assoc. Prof. Serpil Özker, Güneş Banu Kocatepe, Nadide Mutlu Gözde Ceylan, Pelin Gümüş Biçkin, Servet Cankurt, and Emre Kaya.

The purpose of Işık University’s Disabled Student Unit is to minimize the challenges that our disabled students may encounter in academic and social aspects during their education and campus or dormitory life. The unit aims to foster cooperation among relevant stakeholders to eliminate these barriers. It is committed to ensuring equal access and support for disabled students, academic staff, and university personnel. Additionally, it strives to raise awareness about disability-related issues within the university.

The unit also aims to equip disabled students with the necessary knowledge, skills, tools, and confidence to live independently beyond university life.
