The Faculty of Engineering was established in 1996 along wih the Departments of Electrical-Electronics Engineering and Computer Engineering; with the additions of the Department of Industrial Engineering in 2002, the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2007 and the Department of Civil Engineering in 2011 it became an engineering school with five departments. There are also new programs which have started within the departments, such as the Software Engineering Program within the Department of Computer Engineering established in 2009, the Biomedical Engineering Program within the Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering established in 2011 and the Mechatronic Engineering Program within the Mechanical Engineering Department established in 2011. Thus the Faculty of Engineering now provides education to 1200 engineering students in the fastest growing areas of engineering at our Şile Campus.
In line with the Faculty's strategic expansion plan, the Automotive Engineering Program started during 2012-2013 academic year within the Department of Mechanical Engineering as the ninth program.
Based on their entrance exam scores, students planning to study Engineering can select one of the following: Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical-ElectronicsEngineering, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or Automotive Engineering Programs.
Other programs include English as a Foreign Language School program with State University of New York, Brockport Campus and the dual undergraduate degree program of Software Engineering –SUNY which requires completing 1st and 3rd years at Işık University and 2nd and 4th years at SUNY.
