Basic Design in Computer I course on the computer aims to teach fundamental digital design software and tools. Students develop their technical skills by effectively using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator programs. Additionally, students learn digital design processes by carrying out practical digital projects. They produce creative solutions using digital illustration and manipulation techniques.

Introduction to basic IT theory and terminology. Basic skills in a word processor programs, such as MS Word to create documents, format text, apply styles. Basic skills in a spreadsheet program, such as MS Excel, to create and format spreadsheets, including the use of mathematical formulas and to summarize given data in the form of graphics.

Simple grammatical structures and sentence patterns. Description or presentation of people, living or working conditions, daily routines, likes/dislikes. Phrases and expressions related to areas of most immediate priority (e.g. personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment.) Comparisons. Formal e-mails.

This course teaches the effective and creative use of computer technologies in visual communication design. Various graphic design products are created using the advanced functions of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Proficiencies in using fundamental graphic design software at an advanced level are developed through practical projects. Through application projects such as poster design, magazine cover design, calendar design, social media post designs, and multi-page document designs, students will learn the fundamental use of grid systems, composition principles, visual arrangement, symmetry/asymmetry, negative space usage, visual-text harmony, and page layout principles.

Development of the alphabet. Text characters and types. Choosing the right font. The concept kerning, tracking, leading, punctuation marks and text arrangements and solutions to the problems encountered.

General English structures and expressions. Exchange of information on topics of personal opinions, interest or everyday life (e.g. family, hobbies, work, travel and current events). Structured interview statements. Personal details, daily routines, wants and needs, requests for information. Simplified letters, brochures and short newspaper articles. Descriptions of events, past activities and personal experiences. Plans and predictions. Basic expressions for paraphrasing. Description of places and lifestyles.
