Ph.D. in Mathematics

PhD in Mathematics (English)

Both master’s degree and bachelor’s degree graduates are eligible to apply for the PhD program. The language of instruction is 100% English.

For master’s degree holders, the PhD program consists of:

  • A minimum of 21 credit hours of coursework
  • A PhD qualifying exam
  • A PhD thesis proposal defense
  • A PhD dissertation defense

Admitted students must complete at least 12 credit hours from graduate-level courses coded MATH. The remaining coursework may be taken from other graduate programs with the approval of an academic advisor.

For bachelor’s degree holders, the PhD program consists of:

  • A minimum of 42 credit hours of coursework
  • A PhD qualifying exam
  • A PhD thesis proposal defense
  • A PhD dissertation defense

Admitted students must complete at least 12 credit hours from graduate-level courses coded MATH. The remaining coursework may be taken from other graduate programs with the approval of an academic advisor.
