In our globalizing world, relations with states, international organizations and multinational companies have increased. The discipline of International Relations has emerged in order to comprehend these rapidly changing dynamics and to respond to the needs of the day. In the International Relations program, our students try to answer many questions such as why wars occur, how to ensure national and international security, why states have different political systems, how countries' foreign policies are determined, what are the causes and consequences of globalization. The program aims to provide students with an interdisciplinary, objective, critical and analytical approach to historical and contemporary political developments. The program provides students with a theoretical background in International Relations, while at the same time guiding them on how to apply their knowledge to their field work and professional life. One of our most important goals is to train individuals who can think flexibly and work in teams.
In the program, it is important to benefit from the experiences of leading figures in the fields of security and foreign policy. Through conferences, panels, workshops and various projects, our students have the opportunity to listen to and interact with academics, politicians and foreign policy bureaucrats. In addition, our students can spend part of their education abroad as a result of agreements with European universities. Guest academics who come to Işık University from abroad under the same agreements also contribute to the education of our students.
The faculty of our International Relations program is a young and dynamic staff who have completed their doctoral studies at prestigious universities around the world and continue their post-doctoral studies. Since our faculty members have different specializations, they help students develop themselves in various sub-branches of International Relations and guide students in different fields. Students who complete the program can work in a wide variety of institutions and fields. Our graduates can work in various government agencies, especially in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, private sector, international organizations, media, advertising agencies, research centers and multinational companies, or they can continue their education by doing master's and doctoral studies.
