Design the future with Işık
The aim of the program is to cultivate individuals who can contribute to society as visual communication designers. These individuals will be capable of developing communication strategies and producing design applications in the field of visual communication. They will be researchers, inquisitive, creative, courageous, and adaptable, with strong observational skills and the ability to work in teams. They will also be modern and culturally aware.
This continuously evolving undergraduate program is designed to integrate with the dynamics of digital transformation and digital culture, which form the foundation of 21st-century communication strategies. The curriculum places design at the core as a method, communication as the objective, and visuality as the primary medium. The Department of Visual Communication Design offers a diverse selection of shared courses with other art and design departments within STMF (Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture). It aims to foster high-quality, analytical, and critical thinking skills while encouraging the development of original projects at the intersection of design and art.
The department aims to train visual communication designers who are human-centered, innovative, and interdisciplinary in their approach to design. These designers will embrace both traditional and contemporary aesthetic values, create new syntheses, adapt to change, and quickly align themselves with the "new" by understanding the technological, cultural, and social impacts of global transformation.
The curriculum includes both theoretical and practical courses designed to develop students’ design skills and intellectual capacity while emphasizing analysis, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Some of the key subjects covered include:
In addition to receiving high-quality education, students’ projects are showcased at national and international festivals, exhibitions, and competitions each year. Graduates with a Visual Communication Designer identity can access a wide range of professional career opportunities and pursue academic careers.
