The Işık University Psychological Counseling Center was established in 2005 to provide guidance and psychological counseling support to Işık University students.
University and campus life can be both exciting and challenging. While adapting to a new social environment, forming new relationships, and developing new social skills, students also face high academic expectations, making university life even more demanding.
The Işık University Psychological Counseling Center aims to help students cope with these challenges, develop their knowledge and skills, and make the most of their university and campus experience. Students can seek individual counseling for personal support, participate in educational and group activities to develop coping strategies, and find a supportive environment to address their concerns and personal challenges.
Competence and Proficiency
The Işık University Psychological Counseling Center prioritizes competence in its service providers and proficiency in its services. Services that fall outside the expertise of the center are referred to qualified professionals, such as psychiatrists or special education specialists.

The Işık University Psychological Counseling Center values education and scientific development, encouraging its specialists to continuously improve themselves, stay updated on advancements in the field, and collaborate with other universities. Participation in conferences, training programs, and research is encouraged, and professionals are supported in investing in their personal development and receiving supervision.

Center Operations
Students can apply to the center via email, phone, or in person. Upon initial application, students are required to fill out an application form and sign a consent form. Based on the student's academic schedule and the availability of the relevant specialist, an initial appointment is scheduled.
Sessions are limited to 45 minutes. However, if necessary, the specialist may extend the session. In cases that require specialized expertise, students will be referred to an appropriate professional. The responsibility of following up with the referral lies with the student, who may inform the specialist after attending the external appointment.
After the initial consultation, students may be referred to group therapy, individual counseling, or psychiatric consultation based on their needs.
The Psychological Counseling Center is staffed by experienced psychological counselors, psychologists, and clinical psychologists who specialize in working with university students.
