A press conference was held at Maslak Campus to present the observations of Dr. Lecturer Ali Sercan Kesten, Dr. Lecturer Önder Umut, and Dr. Lecturer Bora Akşar, faculty members from the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, who were appointed as expert witnesses by order of the Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to conduct investigations in the earthquake-affected region. Dr. Ali Sercan Kesten, who conducted examinations in the provinces affected by the earthquake, reported that over 156,000 buildings were classified as collapsed, requiring immediate demolition, or severely damaged. He also noted that the number of destroyed or heavily damaged housing units was approximately 507,000, while the number of moderately and lightly damaged buildings was around 43,000.
