Automotive Engineering Undergraduate Program

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: THE AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING PROGRAM IS NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING STUDENTS.

The automotive sector in our country has become one of the key drivers of national industry, and the demand for a qualified workforce in this field is steadily increasing. The sector's technical personnel needs are generally met by mechanical, manufacturing, electrical, electronic, and mechatronics engineers. However, training these engineers and ensuring their adaptation to the sector takes time. For this reason, the "Automotive Engineering" program has been established within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Işık University’s Faculty of Engineering and started accepting students in the 2012/13 academic year.

The planning of laboratory equipment for the Automotive Engineering Program has been completed and will be implemented as soon as possible under the cooperation agreement signed between Işık University and Doğuş Otomotiv A.Ş. Detailed information about the planned laboratories can be found here.

Automotive engineering is an interdisciplinary engineering field that deals with the engineering challenges and needs of the automotive industry and related sectors. It integrates methods and technological applications from mechanical, mechatronics, electrical-electronics, and software engineering to design automotive systems. The field of automotive engineering includes a wide range of applications, such as design, automotive manufacturing systems, assembly industry, and robotic systems. Graduates of the program are expected to develop expertise in automotive technologies, production processes, materials, conventional and alternative fuels, safety systems, and the interaction between the automotive sector and the environment. Automotive engineering graduates will have strong employment opportunities in these fields.

The 138-credit program at Işık University’s Automotive Engineering Program provides an excellent foundation not only for students pursuing a career in automotive engineering but also for those who wish to transition into different fields in the future. Detailed information about the course curriculum can be found here. The program is designed to integrate analytical thinking, problem-solving, logical reasoning, decision-making, creative thinking, teamwork, and communication skills into the curriculum while systematically combining them with professional knowledge. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the automotive engineering program, faculty members from the Departments of Mechanical, Mechatronics, and Electrical-Electronics Engineering will significantly contribute to this program. Since the medium of instruction is entirely in English, students will further enhance their general competencies.
