Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering is a science that works for the planning and development of our environment. For this reason, it is one of the most demanding fields of all time.

It is responsible for the analysis, design, project management and construction of every structure you see. Civil Engineering in English can be defined as civilization engineering. It works to provide all the requirements for the development of civilization, such as shelter, protection from natural disasters.

Main application areas:

  • Buildings (residential, commercial and industrial buildings, underground structures, subways, all kinds of power plants...)
  • Transportation (Highways, tunnels, railways, bridges, underground tube passages, airports...)
  • Water Structures (Dams and irrigation canals...)
  • Coastal Structures (Harbor, breakwater, submarine tube passages, coastal structures…)

All kinds of infrastructure:

Water distribution channels, sewers, pumping stations)

Foundation construction, earthquake risk analysis and design...

In our age dominated by information and communication tools, the fields of interest have naturally changed, and their types have gradually increased. Civil Engineering is a branch of science that has kept pace with all developments.

Moreover, civil engineering has a very special place and importance for Turkey.

FMV Isik University Department of Civil Engineering Program Objectives:

  • A1: Work as civil engineers, researchers or managers in national and international organizations operating in engineering or related fields.
  • EA2: Participate in graduate studies in civil engineering or related fields.
  • EA3: They assume responsibilities to contribute to the society and humanity in which they live by observing social, professional and ethical values in their professional life and social sphere.

  • BÖ2: To train good engineers who can follow the developing innovations and sectoral requirements and improve themselves.
